Our Lady of Peace School
A Leader in Columbus Catholic Education

Our Lady of Peace School is fully accredited in the State of Ohio by the Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association (OCSAA), effective May 2015 – 2021.

These are based on the most recent and highest educational content standards set by the Ohio Department of Education and related educational experts in a given area. This method of combining the best resources available in planning the curricula for the students results in a challenging but appropriate outcome – OLP graduates who are prepared for a rigorous post-elementary education.

LOWER SCHOOL - KINGERGARTEN

In kindergarten, children begin to become active seekers of knowledge as well as independent and creative thinkers. Our kindergarten program encourages children to explore their emerging interests and skills, to appreciate literature, refine oral expression, build problem-solving skills, and learn to cooperate. We combine the best modern teaching methods and materials, while emphasizing Catholic values.

Our teachers allow each child to explore at his or her own pace. Learning is a partnership between the family and the school. We encourage our parents to be active participants in their child’s experience at Our Lady of Peace School.

LOWER SCHOOL - GRADES 1-5

From the earliest age, children begin to lay the groundwork to become life-long learners. Our Elementary School offers an academically challenging, age-appropriate program developed to build confident and caring learners.

With small class sizes, our teachers can offer personal attention and differentiated learning, and our students are introduced to a broad spectrum of experiences at a young age.

In a child-centered environment, our students are known and loved. Teachers understand the intellectual, emotional and spiritual needs of our students. Our curriculum encourages students to develop independence, creativity, problem-solving abilities, perseverance, and confidence. Curiosity and discovery are encouraged across all subject areas as well as outside the classroom through visiting programs such as COSI and Artists in the Schools, and on class field trips. Spiritual education through weekly mass services and our character education themes promote the theological virtues of faith, hope and love.

As they complete their Lower School years, students begin to see themselves as capable individuals who use their gifts and talents for the good of others, armed with the key skills to excel in Middle School and beyond.

MIDDLE SCHOOL - GRADES 6-8

Early adolescence is a crucial time in a student’s academic, social, and emotional development. Our entire program – from the academic curriculum to social and emotional learning to electives to service activities and field trips – supports learning and growth at this important stage.

Our Middle School faculty recognizes the learning opportunities unique to late childhood and early adolescent intellectual and social development. Our courses are structured to strengthen their organizational and individual study skills and designed to engage critical-thinking skills. Physical Education, Music and Art augment the core subjects of Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, and History, in addition to religion classes and a faith filled environment that encompasses Catholic values.

In addition, students are encouraged to uphold their responsibilities as members of the school and the greater community, developing an awareness beyond themselves. Within the school, students have opportunities for leadership. Beyond the school, we aim to provide students the understanding to realize their impact as global citizens.
