Dear Our Lady of Peace Family,
As we approach the season of Thanksgiving, I pause to think about the 222 boys and girls who are students at our
school. Each one is unique. That’s the way God intended it. Each one comes with unique gifts, unique challenges, unique
ways of learning.
Each of our 222 students is known to me by name, which is why I like working in a smaller school. And as they spend
their years here, I get to know them well.
More important, God knows them. He created them as well as their parents, and the teachers and staff of our school. In
Isaiah 43:1-4 God says, “I call you by your name, I name you, you are mine.”
As I type out all 222 names, trying to be careful about spelling, which seems to be getting worse with age, I reflect on
each of these young men and women. Even the students who have come to Our Lady of Peace this year have already
made a memory for me. And, despite the stereotype of the mean principal (think of Mr. Rooney in “Ferris Bueller’s Day
Off”) I don’t remember the bad things. My memory is very selective. I always think of something positive. I can smile as I
pause on each student.
And so, I ask you to offer Thanksgiving to our God for not only your children, but all the children at Our Lady of Peace,
you, their families, their teachers and staff. We are blessed to have all of them here.
I am thankful for:
