SACC (After School Care) and Covid Plan

August 27, 2020

Here are the updates to SACC for the 2020-2021 school year:

SACC is required to have a 1:9 staff to child ratio during the pandemic. Although Governor DeWine lifted childcare ratios back to 1:18 the Columbus Diocese is still requiring us to operate at a 1:9. Because of this requirement we have been attempting to hire additional staff in order to ensure compliance as well as the health and safety of your children and the staff. Currently we only have two staff members, which would only allow us to enroll 18 students in the program. We do not want to have to deny anyone access to SACC, so if you know anyone who would be interested in a position at SACC please have them reach out to myself or Mr. Silcott. If we are forced to prioritize SACC enrollment the following will occur:
  • Returning SACC students and their siblings/family members (this includes new Kindergartners) have first priority.
  • New SACC students on a first come first serve basis
IF YOU WILL NEED SACC PLEASE EMAIL KELLY MCCLERNON ASAP WITH THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION: kmcclernon@cdeducation.org

1) Family name

2) Number of children, their grade level and their names

3) How many days a week the child(ren) will be attending SACC

We will have a new fee structure this year which will accommodate the uncertain nature of the school year this year:

PARENTS WILL HAVE THE OPTION TO PAY WEEKLY OR MONTHLY BUT MUST OPT INTO ONE FOR THE YEAR
  • 5 days a week - $60/child Monthly- $240
  • 4 days a week - $48/child $192
  • 3 days a week - $36/child $144
  • 2 days a week - $24/child $96
  • 1 day a week - $12/child $48
Mask Wearing: SACC students will be required for all children and all staff during SACC hours indoors or outdoors. Masks can be taken off when socially distancing and engaging in a quiet activity like reading silently. I understand that the children will have already been wearing a mask for 6 hours at school and we understand an additional 2-4 hours will be difficult, but it is required. If a child has difficulty with this and is continually taking off their mask, parents may need to find an alternative after school arrangement.

Pickup: We ask that parents not enter the building to pick up their child from SACC. Parents will be given a phone number that they must call when they are in the parking lot to pick up their child. This phone number will connect you directly to a SACC staff member who will sign the child out and dismiss them out the West door of the school (door closest to the church) for 4th graders and up and escort them to and out the West door to a parent/designated for children in K-3rd grade.

SACC students’ temperatures will be taken when we take attendance in the gym at the end of the school day. Any child who has a temperature of 100 degrees or more or is showing COVID-19 symptoms will be isolated and a parent/designee will be contacted and the child must be picked up within 30 minutes of being contacted by SACC staff.

Each SACC teacher will be assigned up to 9 students each week and will remain with those students each day that week. We will be utilizing the SACC room, the cafeteria, the gym, outdoors (the playground equipment will be off limits) and the tutoring room. Due to restrictions on shared items such as crayons, markers, and toys we suggest supplying your child with an extra set of whichever they prefer that they may keep in their book bags to use while at SACC. We will not be able to use legos, puzzles, or any shared toy, activity, or game at SACC which severely restricts indoor activities offered here at SACC. The staff and I are diligently researching other potential activities and hope we can come up with some safe and fun activities when school begins.

SACC students will be required to have a water bottle at SACC. The drinking fountains will be off but the water bottle dispenser in the gym and in the cafeteria will be on. This water bottle can be the same one they use at school, however it must come with them to SACC as we must limit access to their classrooms after school hours when they are being cleaned.

This is a difficult time for all of us and we understand these changes will be challenging. We are committed to keeping the children, their families, our staff and their families as safe and healthy as possible. There is a SACC directors Zoom meeting on Monday August 10th that I will be attending and hopefully this meeting will bring new creative ideas and suggestions to help guide us through the school year and help us navigate this successfully.

Please feel free to reach out to me anytime on my cell phone or email with any questions or concerns:
